The movie's romance was very different to the book's, Evan's relationship with Cassie was way less stalkerish, she kissed him willingly (in fact, she was the one who initiated it), Ben didn't kiss her in the end, and overall it just seems like Evan is a better person.The 5th Wave is a young adult apocalyptic Science Fiction thriller trilogy by Rick Yancey, who has also written the Alfred Kropp series and the Monstrumologist series. It seemed like she was saying to not kiss her out of sensibility instead of what she actually felt. It kind of seemed like she did want him to kiss her, and she really wasn't trying very hard to stop him. But I think Cassie's crush on Ben is mainly gone now, probably just the sense of security and 'safety' and mainly has feelings for Evan, and she has also matured more because of the waves so she is less naive.Īlso, I was kind of confused in the kiss scene when cassie said to evan to not kiss her. I just think it is quite unreasonable for Cassie to be with Ben at the end when she literally had a crush on a guy she never talked to and at the end when Ben kisses her it seems like he only did it because she was like one of the only options and he knew her before and she was pretty tbh. As for Cassie and Evan, it is obvious that Evan really loves her, and Cassie probably does love him. He always tries so hard to make her smile and she challenges him.
I love Ben as a character, but I think he really belongs with Ringer.
I think the only way this romance thing is going to make sense if Cassie goes with Evan.
